Starting a new business during a global pandemic while pregnant with your 4th kid. Easy right?

2020. Life as we knew it changed for everyone, globally and most certainly in our home. With 3 young children, Landon whose 7th birthday happened shortly after lockdown, Leo who was 4, and Lucille who was 2, our routines and normalcy were completely turned upside down. Throw in a rough 4th pregnancy and therefore inability to drink copious amounts of wine virtually with my friends, I was scared, bored, overwhelmed, scared again, and all the while so thankful for my families health. Caught up in the homeschooling, 9 million snacks, 3 square meals 3 times a day for 5 people, being mommy, wife, and friend to all, while trying to keep my anxieties from seeping into my young childrens point of view, I decided I needed an outlet. I needed something for myself. Lack of friends, moms groups, playdates, girls nights out, pedicures, date nights, Target shopping, or even trips alone to the grocery store, I needed to find MY thing.

In came my passion for taking photos of anything and everything. It that hadn't necessarily been put on a back burner but the ambition to do something with it had dimmed. My children would begrudgingly tell you that the camera is always in their face, and that habit had picked up even more during the pandemic as I tried to document this (hopefully) rare moment in time. I began reading about all my camera could do, all that lighting could do, all that editing could do. It was a spot of personal growth that I didn't realize was missing from my life until I was deep in it. When all of my "things" had been put on pause, I had found the thing that I didn't even realize was missing.

As the passion continued to grow, so did my desire to do MORE with it. In came Rose & Clay Photography. I hope with Rose and Clay Photography to give to others what photography has given to me. A passion for the things that mean so much to them. Taking the moments and the people and capturing them just the way they want to remember them.

Now that it is 2021 and I'm finally able to drink my wine, and SAFELY AND MASKED shop at Target again, I will forever be grateful that 2020 gave me the time to begin this journey. And I can not wait to begin it with you..
